Mitrovic, 28, pushed Kavanagh during Fulham's FA Cup meltdown at Manchester United last month, after Willian had been sent off for handling the ball on the line at Old Trafford. The Fulham forward was banned for eight games and fined £75,000 for shoving referee Chris Kavanagh. Halsey makes reference to Mitrovic's recent sanction. 'So you're looking at two similar incident aren't ya? If found guilt, he has to suffer the consequences of an eight-game ban. He later appeared on talkSPORT and reaffirmed his view on the matter, as he said: 'If Mitrovic has been banned for a technical assault, they could say that the assistant referee as technically assaulted a player. 'Match officials are the guardians of standards and must be accountable if found guilty for that type of behaviour towards a player.'
'However, if he is proven guilty and did intentionally use his elbow then he will face the same consequences as the Fulham frontman. Writing for the Sun, ex-referee Halsey said: 'I have heard people say this is the end of the linesman's career, but, just like Aleksandar Mitrovic, it is his full-time job. Mark Halsey expects assistant Hatzidakis to face an 8 game ban, if guilty of elbowing. “If guilty, he has to have an 8 game ban.” 👀
